- Congratulations to Aldo Leopold Community School for being recognized as a Seeding School by Green and Healthy Schools.
- Congratulations to Aldo Leopold Community School which was awarded a Green Gift from Cellcom for educational signage for the Aldo gardens.
- Shout out to Aldo Leopold Community School for donating 45 tie blankets to Sleep in Heavenly Peace.
- Congratulations to Beaumont Elementary School educator Callie Scheibe, McAuliffe Elementary School educator Katherine Kraly, and Jackson Elementary School educator Krista Clendenen who were named the top Seesaw users in the District.
- Congratulations to the Brown County Institution of Learning students who recently donated 28 handmade tie blankets for the dogs and cats at the Wisconsin Humane Society.
- Congratulations to our schools that participated in the Panorama survey. GBAPS schools achieved an amazing 93.5% completion rate. A special congratulations goes out to Danz Elementary School, McAuliffe Elementary School, Lincoln Elementary School, and for reaching a 100% completion rate.
- Congratulations to the Doty Elementary School’s Food for Friends program for being selected to receive a $2,000 grant from the Current Young Professionals at the S.O.U.P. (Supporting Our Urban Projects) event.
- Congratulations to Chappell Elementary School's Physical Education teacher Andrew Wehlage for his efforts at the American Heart Association's Kids Heart Challenge. Through his work to hold a Kids Heart Challenge event students learned about taking care of their own hearts, how to react in case of an emergency and gave families the opportunity to fund lifesaving research. The Chappell team raised more than $2,600 for the American Heart Association.
- Congratulations to former East High School teacher Scott Christy received the 2024 Governor’s Financial Literacy Award on April 29, 2025. The 2024 Governor’s Financial Literacy Awards honored recipients for providing exceptional financial literacy and capability education in an inclusive and innovative manner. Mr. Christy taught business, information technology, and personal financial literacy classes for 33 years in the Green Bay Area Public School District, retiring after the 2023-24 school year.
- Congratulations to East High School for collecting 60 blankets for the Brown County United Way at their October 11, 2024, football game.
- Congratulations to East High School and Washington Middle School dance educator, Esrom Williams Jr., who was a Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction Youth Art Highlight.
- Congratulations to Edison Middle School Library Media Specialist Amy Bahena-Ettner for being celebrated as the WIXX September Teacher of the Month.
- Congratulations to Eisenhower Elementary School's afterschool program for being highlighted as April's Program Spotlight by the Wisconsin Out of School Time Alliance. Read more here.
- Congratulations to Eisenhower Elementary School teacher Adriana Canizales Pineda who received a shout-out from the Department of Public Instruction for her work this summer through CESA 7 to provide programming for Title I, Part C migrant students. The following was shared with Interim Superintendent Vicki Bayer and ESEA Coordinator Lisa Bynum, "Adriana exemplified what we see in the amazing educators in our state and in Green Bay Area School District. Adriana jumped in and worked as a family liaison and connected with our migrant program recruiters to ensure students were involved and connected and to provide programming on Saturdays for our migratory students...The experiences they have with your district and those deep connections with staff that are advocates like Adriana have significant impacts and we really appreciate the efforts you all are making."
- Congratulations to Franklin Middle School's Manager of Student Engagement, Attendance, and Advocate, Jeason Thomas, for being awarded the Brown County MLK Ebiere Juliet Cole Award.

- Congratulations to Franklin Middle School teacher Nick Moraza for being nominated for this year's TDS Telecommunications LLC "Most Valuable Educator" Award.
- Congratulations to the Green Bay Area Public School District School & Community Relations Department (and all contributors) for receiving the National School Public Relations (NSPRA) Publication and Digital Media - Website Honorable Mention Award for the GBAPS Redesigned Website, the NSPRA Publication and Digital Media - Video Award of Excellence for the Together We are One video, and the NSPRA Golden Achievement Award for the GBAPS 2024 November Referendum campaign.
- Congratulations to Green Bay Area Public School District Occupational Therapist Mary Miller Clark and Program Support Teacher Linda Goddard for being recognized by the Board of Directors of the Wisconsin Council of Special Administrators of Special Services in appreciation of their outstanding achievement and contributions to their school communities.
- Congratulations to the Green Bay Area Public School District Technology Team that presented at Brainstorm in the Wisconsin Dells. Jerry Campbell, Zach Patri, and Amy Jaeckel lead four different sessions sharing knowledge with roughly 200 conference attendees.
- Green Bay Area Public School District District nurses Bonnie Baranczyk and Jane Weber had the opportunity to speak with legislators about Medicaid funding reimbursements rates at a recent WASN conference.
- The Green Bay Area Public School District was recently honored with a 2024 Clean Energy Honor Roll award for its clean energy efforts by RENEW Wisconsin. The organization recognized the District's clean energy impact thanks to solar projects at Lombardi Middle School and King Elementary School. The solar panels, which were completed thanks to community support of the November 2022 referendum, offset nearly 50% of the annual electrical energy load at Lombardi, and nearly 100% of the annual electrical energy load at King.
- A group of Green Bay Area Public School District teachers and administrators created and facilitated presentations at the MidSchoolMath National Conference in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on March 7 and 8, 2025. Throughout these four sessions, our district staff were able to reach over 350 educators and leaders from schools across the nation. The following groups presented:
- Angie La Combe, Dan Slowey, and Emily Thomas presented a session about facilitating a process for impactful classroom visits.
- Andrea Huggett and Blair Swiekatowski held a session about meaningful visual note-making strategies that empower students to become advocates for their learning.
- Laura DeBouche and Ryan Vandenboom presented a session on how to facilitate practice in a math classroom without the traditional worksheet approach.
- Amy Crum, Andera Huggett, Blair Swiekatowski, Laura DeBouche, and Ryan Vandenboom presented their work as part of the MidSchoolMath Certified Teacher Cohort. Angie La Combe facilitated the cohort throughout last school year, and the presentation of the work at the conference. As part of this cohort they completed action research projects in their classrooms, and then presented sessions on their findings.
- Congratulations to the following Green Bay Area Public School District teachers who presented this past weekend at the Wisconsin Council for Social Studies. Curriculum Coordinator Ashley Kumrow presented "Teaching Beyond Black History Month" in collaboration with the African-American/Jewish Friendship group and a Madison Metropolitan School District teacher. Ashley focused on how GBAPS vetted and adopted a comprehensive instructional resource that includes multiple perspectives of events throughout history for the District's universal secondary Social Studies courses. Ashley also presented with Lombardi Middle School Social Studies teacher Justin Short a session called "Fold in the Cheese: How Do You Make Resource Fidelity Engaging?"

- Congratulations to Green Bay Area Public School District Information Systems Supervisor Nick Brylla, who was presented the Data Storyteller Award from ClassLink Launchpad. The Data Storyteller Award recognizes an individual who expertly uses data analysis to inform strategy and drive teaching and learning in their organization.
- The Green Bay Area Public School District's District Office Building (DOB) and Welcome Center staff donated more than 130 containers of detergent to 26 buildings across the District at their 3rd Annual Witches Cauldron Luncheon. Since the beginning of the 2022-23 school year, the staff raised nearly $3,700, which has been directly donated to student-centered initiatives in our schools.
- Congratulations to the Green Bay Area Public School District Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program for receiving a $600 donation from the Green Bay Fraternal Order of the Eagles.
- Congratulations to Howe Elementary Community School for receiving a grant from Pi Beta Phi at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay that allowed them to buy $2,000 worth of books.
- Congratulations to Howe Elementary Community School special education teacher Jennifer Poley for being awarded the Educator Advocate Award at the Circles of Life Conference.
- Congratulations to Jackson Elementary School and Counselor Tammy Van Ess for receiving the designation of Wisconsin School Counselor Association's Program of Promise. Jackson Elementary received this award based on its Wisconsin School Counseling Program Accountability Report, which is a continuous improvement document sponsored by the Wisconsin School Counselor Association.

- Congratulations to John Dewey Academy of Learning advisor Jon Egen for being nominated for this year's TDS Telecommunications LLC "Most Valuable Educator" Award.
- Congratulations to Kennedy Elementary School teacher Lauren Bechle for being nominated for this year's TDS Telecommunications LLC "Most Valuable Educator" Award.
- Congratulations to Kennedy Elementary School's Student Learning Advocate Cristina Martinez Gonzalez who was recognized by the State of Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs for her exceptional service to the Wisconsin National Guard Challenge Academy.
- Congratulations to King Elementary Children's Center for Engineering for being one of the winners of the Global Libraries Grant. The school received around 70 new books for the library that focus on world cultures, human rights, global health, global poverty, climate change, and inequality. As part of the grant obligations, the books are now on display in the library.

- Congratulations to Langlade Elementary School Volunteer Center Reading Coach Dawn Esterling who was nominated for the Volunteer in Education Award through the Volunteer Center of Brown County's 2025 Volunteer Awards.

- Congratulations to Langlade Elementary School for collecting 8,836 items for the Help for the Homeless Drive.
- Congratulations to Lombardi Middle School science teacher Hannah Bruesch who received a grant of $1,200 from the Natural Resources Foundation of Wisconsin's Teachers' Outdoor Environmental Education Fund for their Trees For Tomorrow trip.
- Wisconsin Secretary Sarah Godlewski visited Martin Elementary School on April 8, 2025, as a part of her tour of public school libraries during National Library Week. During her visit, Sec. Godlewski presented the Green Bay Area Public School District with a check for more than $1.9 million from the Wisconsin Common School Fund, which provides annual aid for schools to purchase library books and other instructional materials. Sec. Godlewski finished her visit by reading a book and conducting an election activity with Martin Elementary students.
- Congratulations to McAuliffe Elementary School for participating in the 2024 Tundra Tales Reading Challenge. The school was selected to receive one of five $1,000 grants for literacy resources for having five or more classrooms complete the program with at least 75% participation per class. The funding is provided through the Green Bay Packers Give Back program.
- Congratulations to McAuliffe Elementary School teachers Mrs. Gervais and Mrs. Schomaker for receiving a $200 grant from the Bellevue Lions Club to purchase items for their students and classroom.
- The Canary Fund has awarded SOL: Baile Folklórico, a Nicolet Elementary School dance group, with $3,000 to purchase more dance attire for their students. The dance group recently performed at a Wisconsin Timber Rattlers game on August 8, 2024, and on the main stage at ArtStreet on August 24, 2024.
- Congratulations to Nicolet Elementary School first grade teacher Megan Fletcher, who was honored by the Milwaukee Brewers with the Grand Slam Teacher of the Month Award during a school assembly on February 11, 2025. She was given a custom Brewers jersey as a part of her award.
- Congratulations to Northeast Wisconsin School of Innovation's Chris Barszcz for receiving the WSPRA Amplify Award for supporting the efforts of school public relations and communications in the Green Bay Area Public School District.
- Congratulations to Northeast Wisconsin School of Innovation educator Shalee Schmutzler who was named a Distinguished Educator of Personal Finance by the NGPF (Next Gen Personal Finance).
- Congratulations to Northeast Wisconsin School of Innovation teacher Abie Vang who has been chosen to present at the NCUEA (National Council of Urban Education Associations) for her work locally and nationally on behalf of students and educators.
- Congratulations to Northeast Wisconsin School of Innovation principal Jason Johnson who has been invited to serve on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s (DPI) State Superintendent’s Advisory Council for Charter Schools (SSACCS).
- Congratulations to three GBAPS music educators who are being recognized by the Recording Academy and GRAMMY Museum for the 2026 Music Educator Award™. Kimberly Meader (Preble High School) is being recognized as a legacy applicant, as she was a quarterfinalist in 2025. Emily Paulsen (Webster Elementary Children's Center Integrated Arts) and Brandon Rockstroh (Southwest High School) are quarterfinalists for the 2026 award.
- Congratulations to Preble High School softball coach Metzler in his 300th victory.
- Congratulations to Preble High School paraprofessional Jamie Komorowski for being recognized by WEAC as Education Support Professional of the Year.
- Congratulations to retired Preble High School agriscience teacher and FFA advisor, Betty Krcma, who was announced as a recipient of the prestigious Honorary Wisconsin FFA Degree, the highest honor the Wisconsin FFA Association can bestow on a non-member. It is awarded to individuals who have rendered outstanding service to the agricultural education/FFA program.
- Congratulations to Preble High School's Coach Gaulke on his recognition by the Wisconsin Football Coaches Association for 30 years of service. The last 21 years have been spent coaching football at Preble.
- Congratulations to Preble High School teachers Trichia Nemecek, Shayna Horacek, and Carrie Maccoux for being nominated for this year's TDS Telecommunications LLC "Most Valuable Educator" Award.
- Congratulations to Red Smith School's Terrance Auger for receiving a $7,000 donation to support a school project from The Kress Foundation.
- Congratulations to Red Smith School which was awarded a Green Gift from Cellcom for the construction of two new rain barrels to be used in conjunction with the greenhouse.
- Congratulations to Southwest High School teacher Briana Vander Heiden for being nominated for this year's TDS Telecommunications LLC "Most Valuable Educator" Award.
- The Green Bay Blizzard football team partnered with Sullivan Elementary School for the opportunity to receive a box of 50 beef sticks, courtesy of the Wisconsin Beef Council and Build Your Base, if their kicker Andrew Mevis, converted nine successful kicks in a game. This amazing feat occurred against the Arizona Rattlers, and as a result, Sullivan was one of six local schools chosen to receive beef sticks, courtesy of the Wisconsin Beef Council and Build Your Base.
- Congratulations to Washington Middle School special education teacher Mollianna Fischer who was selected as a recipient of the National 180 award.
- Webster Elementary Children's Center for Integrated Arts received practice pad snare drums donated by Tim and Jodie Olejniczak.
- Bellin Health Sports Medicine has partnered with West High School for the last year to coordinate Pre-Participation Exams at the high schools or local clinics. This year $500 was raised and is being donated back to West High School.
- Congratulations to West High School football coach Drew Brusoe who was voted the Green Bay Press-Gazette's high school football coach of the year in the Green Bay area.
- Congratulations to West High School which was awarded a Green Gift from Cellcom for the library to purchase supplies to participate in The Cornell Lab of Ornithology’s Celebrate Urban Birds project. The project is meant to teach students about bird populations and identification, and birds environmental impact.
- Congratulations to West High School teacher Lisa Merkel for being nominated for this year's TDS Telecommunications LLC "Most Valuable Educator" Award.

- Congratulations to the following Green Bay Area Public School District students who were recognized by College Ready: East High School - Ahmed Abdi, Alejandra Alavez, Erin Bathke, Erick Brito, Briana Cruz-Martinez, Diana De Jesus Bautista, Brandon Flores, Isabel Garcia, Nadia Gaytan, Evelyn Martínez Hernández, Juan Nuñez Casteñeda, Ariana Ponce, Alex Rivera-Beas, Lydia Robinson, Ximena Romero, Yanely Rubio Candelario, Julitza Sierra and Preble High School - Bryan Flores, Luis Herrera Ramos, Alejandro Quintero-Vera.
- Congratulations to East High School's Erick Brito Acevedo, who was selected as a QuestBridge National College Match Scholar. Erick was awarded with a full four-year scholarship for college. Erick plans to attend Washington and Lee University in Virginia for biology and then pursue a degree and career in dentistry.
- Congratulations to East High School student James Smith who completed the Manufacturing Processes Pathway to the Electromechanical Pathway with Robinson, Inc., in 15 months, with 1,800 hours, while enrolled in five dual-credit courses.
- Congratulations to East High School's Kenia Nuno Delgadillo who was named 2025 Youth of the Year by the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Bay & Lakes Region. Kenia will attend the upcoming 2025 Youth of the Year gala in Madison to represent our region, which includes Brown, Door, and Shawano Counties. Youth of the Year is the highest award given to Boys & Girls Club members, and celebrates the extraordinary achievements of teen leaders.
- Congratulations to the following three East High School seniors in the City Stadium Automotive program who received awards at the April 11, 2025, NWTC Tech Challenge: Colton Dean (gold medal and earned a $1,000 scholarship to NWTC), Alex Olea (silver medal) and Jaime Guzman (bronze medal). Students participating in the NWTC Tech Challenge compete in areas of automotive, business, construction, digital arts, manufacturing, STEM and more.

- Congratulations to John Dewey Academy of Learning students Ayden Schmidt and Reagan Snyder who have been invited to participate in the Student Leadership Day at the Illinois Holocaust Museum and Education Center in Skokie, Illinois. The students will travel to the museum in February to work on building an action plan for their school community.
- More than 30 Green Bay Area Public School District students are heading to Madison in May for the National History Day competition. Students from John Dewey Academy of Learning, Preble High School, and Southwest High School had a successful regional competition at UW-Green Bay on March 1, 2025, to advance to the State competition. Students presented on a variety of topics with documentaries, papers, exhibits, performances and more. Several students also received additional recognition:
- Brinley Bilke received the American Women's History Award for her project on Ella Baker.
- Caitlin Mellberg, Lucia Suarez, and Jessica Trevarthen received the Brown County Historical Society & Hazelwood Historic House's Special Prize for local history for their performance on Zona Gale.
- Sophia Glime, Harper Kemper, and Nayeli Thomas received the Daughters of the American Revolution Special Prize for their performance on Women's Sports.
- Congratulations to Lombardi Middle School 7th grade AVID student, Jack Goodwin, who was awarded the Top Achiever Award at the Achiever Banquet on Monday, June 2, 2025. This award is presented to the student who is elected by their peers who models the pledge of a Y-Achiever.
- Congratulations to the following Preble High School students on their decision to serve our country after graduation in the following branches: Wisconsin Army National Guard - Adam Anderson-Braun, Angel Calderon Ramos, Jesse Cortes Buenrostro, Landon Morella, Alejandro Quintero-Vera; United States Army - Aaron Madrigal; and United States Marines - Omar Mejia, Omar Sanchez Juarez, Thay Taw, and Max Thielke.
- Congratulations to the Preble High School FFA team for earning first overall in the soils contest at the State Championship. The team will be heading to the National FFA Environmental Science Contest in October.
- Congratulations to the following Preble High School students have qualified to compete at the HOSA International Leadership Conference (ILC) in Nashville, Tennessee: Ily Hana Song (Medical Reading, 2nd place), and Fardowsa Adan, Balqiisa Adan, Hanan Dahir, and Hamdi Dahir (Biomedical Debate, 3rd place).
- Congratulations to the Preble High School FCCLA team that attended the State Leadership Conference in Wisconsin Dells.
- Congratulations to the 11 Preble High School students that competed at the state SkillsUSA competition. The following three students made it to the podium: Alejandra Rodriguez Guzman (gold in the Barbering), Mason Kanzelberger (gold in the CNC Lathe), and Tyler Strebel (silver in Diesel Equipment Technology). Alejandra and Mason will be competing in Atlanta for the national competition in June.
- Congratulations to the Preble High School forensics team members for qualifying for state: Marianna Flores, Jon Wainwright, Madaline Holewinski, Caris Diedrich, Gwen Oleniczak, and Ily Song.
- Congratulations to the Preble High School Academic Decathlon Team placed 6th overall at the State Championship. The team won the State Championship in the Speech and interview events. This year’s team set school records for highest overall score, highest place at State and best performance in the super quiz event.

Dylan is now 1 of only 3 high schoolers in Wisconsin to have passed the audition in the last 20 years, putting him in the top 5% of high school auditionees in the country.

These student pioneers have conducted research (The Tiny Earth Project) on antibiotic activity in soil bacteria over the last 16 weeks at UW-Green Bay to fill a critical need to discover new antibiotics. - Congratulations to Green Bay Area Public School District volunteers Ella Yang (East High School), Dawn Esterling (Langlade Elementary School), Chloe Burton (West High School), and Alex Kozicke (West High School) for being nominated to receive a 2025 WPS Volunteer Award. Of the four nominees, two received awards at the WPS Volunteer Awards on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Chloe Burton received the Youth Volunteer Award, which is given to a volunteer who is 18 years or younger. As the recipient, Chloe was awarded a $1,000 personal education scholarship. Green Bay East High School's Ella Yang was runner up and she will receive a $500 personal education scholarship. Dawn Esterling was awarded The George Kress Foundation Volunteer in Education Award winner. This award is given to an individual who volunteers specifically in the area of education for pre-kindergarten through college. Dawn is parent to GBAPS students and a volunteer at Langlade Elementary School and a Volunteer Center reading coach.

- Congratulations to the Green Bay United boys team for competing in the 200 Free and 400 Free Relays at the state competition. The 200 free relay team (Evan Maloney - East, Rylen Phillips - Preble, Sam Moore and Atticus Retzak Krump - Southwest) placed 15th overall and earned a new team record with a time of 1:29.25.
- Congratulations to the Green Bay United (GBU) boys swimming team for earning second overall at the Sheboygan Raiders Relay Meet. The GBU mixed team relay took first at the end of the meet.
- Congratulations to the following Green Bay United girls swim team members who competed at the State competition and finished in 22nd place in the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay with a time of 3:43.31: Paige Miller, Ivana Neverman, Claire Schlaefer, and Claire Sieber. All four girls attend Preble High School. Ivana Neverman also finished in 8th place in the 200 Yard Individual Medley with a time of 2:05.77 and 17th place in the 100 Yard Butterfly with a time of 58.17 at the State competition.
- Congratulations to the Green Bay United girls swim team. Several team members qualified to compete at the WIAA State Swim Meet on November 16, 2024. Ivana Neverman will compete individually in the 200 individual medley and the 100 fly. The team made up of Paige Miller, Ivana Neverman, Claire Schlaefer, and Claire Sieber will swim the 400 free relay. All four girls attend Preble High School.

- Congratulations to the 18 Green Bay Area Public School District educators who will be graduating on May 12, 2024, from the UW-La Crosse MSED- Learning Community Master's Program. Teachers from Chappell Elementary School, East High School, Jackson Elementary School, John Dewey Academy of Learning, Lombardi Middle School, Preble High School, Southwest High School, Sullivan Elementary School, Webster Elementary School, and West High School started the program in January 2023 and successfully completed all the program requirements.

- The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame unveiled a bronze bust of Curly Lambeau at East High School’s City Stadium on September 22. The bust is the first to be installed as a part of the Packers Hall of Fame’s Legacy Series. Bronze busts of Packers Hall of Famers will be placed at various schools with ties to the Packers. Curly Lambeau graduated from East High School in 1917.
- Eisenhower Elementary School received a generous $5,000 donation from Burlington and the national nonprofit AdoptAClassroom.org to help further their students’ education.
- Congratulations to Eisenhower Elementary School and Washington Middle School for being Honorable mentions in Beanstacks 2023 Read Around Wisconsin Challenge. All Wisconsin schools had the opportunity to participate by tracking students' independent reading times through Beanstack. Washington and Eisenhower were each given $100 to use in the library for being a Winner! Thank you to our librarians for promoting a love of reading.
- Congratulations to Green Bay Area Public School District volunteers Suabnag (Bella) Kong, Jeanne Bonacci, Karol Medina, and Tammy Van Ess for being nominated to receive a 2024 WPS Volunteer Award. Of the four nominees, two received awards at the WPS Volunteer Awards on Thursday, April 25, 2024. West High School senior Suabnag (Bella) Kong received the United Healthcare Youth Volunteer Award, which is given to a volunteer who is 18 years or younger. As the recipient, Bella was awarded a $1,000 personal education scholarship. Jeanne Bonacci was named The George Kress Foundation Volunteer in Education Award Runner-up, given to an individual who volunteers specifically in the area of education for pre-kindergarten through college. As the runner-up, Jeanne was awarded $500 to gift to the nonprofit of her choice.
- Congratulations to the Green Bay Area Public School District's Department of Technology for being recognized by the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) for its work on developing a technology acquisition process.
- Congratulations to the following Green Bay Area Public School District staff who presented at the national MidSchool Math conference on Friday, March 1, 2024: Cyndi Cantwell, Shauna Francour-Rattray, Andrea Huggett, Angie La Combe, Blair Swiekatowski, and Emily Thomas.
- The Green Bay Elks Lodge #259 donated nearly $1,000 of winter clothing for Green Bay Area Public School students in need. Jackets, mittens, hats, snow pants, and sweatpants were dropped off at the Green Bay Area Public School District office to give to students when they need warm winter items.
- At the July 24th Board of Education meeting, Wello Executive Natalie Bomstad and Community Mobilizer Rogelio Contreras presented a check for $10,012.36. The check represented the Wello investment in the Green Bay School District towards Farm to School programs and Mindfulness efforts for staff and students.
- Green Bay citySERVE supported our teachers on School Care Day back in August. More than 45 volunteers went to 19 different Green Bay Area Public Schools on August 29th and 30th to help staff prepare for the start of the school year. Volunteers contributed more than 160 hours of support in preparing caring closets, classrooms, and outdoor spaces before welcoming students on the first day of school.
- The Green Bay Area Public School District was recognized as a 2022 Advanced Placement Pacesetter Awardee by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction! The District was recognized at Level 3 for Preble High School and Southwest High School, meaning 10% or more of all students participated in at least one AP exam, and 60% or more of those students earned scores of 3 or above on the exams.
- On August 9th, 2023, Green Bay Area Public Schools' Math Leadership partnered with MidSchoolMath to provide specialized training to teachers from across the country. Fourteen Green Bay teachers joined teachers from Maine, New Mexico, Washington, and Colorado for a full-day of learning about math instructional practices and leadership. The 20+ teachers will be working together throughout the year to complete the MidSchoolMath Certified Teacher Program, which will focus on increasing student learning at the middle school level. Teachers who complete the program will be sharing their learning with their colleagues during professional learning in June of 2024.
- During Community School Coordinator week, GBAPS thanks Diana Delbecchi, the Community School Coordinator at Howe Elementary Community School for helping Howe become a thriving neighborhood hub that supports students, families, and neighbors by providing access to community supports such as academic, emotional, health, and social services.
- On September 20, Howe Elementary Community School held a ribbon cutting for its new outdoor learning space. The Leadership Green Bay team 3 raised $12,815 dollars through months of fundraising efforts to create this gorgeous space for the Howe school community. In addition to a beautiful new outdoor learning area, the space serves as a memorial to past students and staff that were lost unexpectedly.
- Thanks to a partnership with Leadership Green Bay, a new outdoor learning space is open at Howe Elementary Community School. The space gives students and teachers the opportunity for outdoor lessons and to engage in learning in different ways.
- The Brown County United Way announced a $150,000 investment in the Howe Community Elementary School model, which began in 2018. The $150,000 investment will assist the scholars at Howe Community Elementary School, the residents, and families in the surrounding attendance area.
- Jackson Elementary School was honored with a donation from Nicolet Foundation Inc. to support the school's Hunger Heroes Jaguar Den.
- King Elementary Children's Center for Engineering had the honor of receiving a $20,000 'Leap for Learning' donation on February 22 from UScellular and the Green Bay Packers for a technology makeover to improve STEM education. Green Bay Packers player AJ Dillon stopped by to celebrate with the students.
- Congrats to Megan Rudolph, ESL teacher at Langlade Elementary School, along with Anita Lor (Hmong bilingual paraprofessional) and Kaci Butry (ML PST) for being awarded $1,880 for the Multicultural Club at Langlade.
- Leonardo da Vinci School for Gifted Learners students presented Habitat for Humanity with a check for $23,415.43, which they raised through their PI Day 5K Run/Walk.

There are 10 sections throughout the state, so they are the representatives from our area. Southwest High School Agriscience Teacher, Tom Sebranek has also been nominated as the Section 9 Agriscience Teacher of the Year.

- Webster Elementary Children's Center for Integrated Arts was visited by a few Les Misérables cast members, including Wisconsin native, Kelsey Denae, from the North American tour on February 22. The cast members shared how they were cast for Les Misérables, their pathway to working on a Broadway show, and answered other questions from the students.

- Congratulations to West High School for being chosen as the winner of the "Holiday Tree Decorating at Austin Straubel Airport" contest hosted by the GRB Arts Program. West Art teacher Annie Larsen submitted a concept for the tree, which included covering the tree with lights and sparkling, glass snowflakes created by West students and staff. As the winning concept, West is getting the opportunity to decorate the 20-foot holiday tree, along with $2,000 toward supplies. Students and staff are now in the process of creating glass snowflakes to adorn this beautiful tree that will be on display in the airport starting November 27 through early January.

- Congratulations to this year's Learning for Independence (LFI) graduates: East High School - Jillian Poppe, Ryan Kopindlansky, Daniel Long; Preble High School - Zabdiel Menendez Medina, Gannon Myers-Davey; Southwest High School - San Hua, Dalton Chernetski; West High School -Yong Yea Vang, LaChea Vang. LFI is a program for 18-21-year-olds with intellectual disabilities and developmental disabilities. LFI allows students to become integrated and involved in a post-high school community. This helps them prepare skills to pursue other learning and employment opportunities.
- Congratulations to the East High School chapter of FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) for being awarded Champion Chapter Gold status by the FBLA national organization. Champion Chapter is a series of membership-focused challenges that high school chapters may complete to earn national recognition. Activities include chapter membership recruiting programs, community service, member engagement, and a focus on excellence in Career and Technical Education programs.

- Congratulations to the following Preble High School HOSA team members who competed at a recent HOSA conference: Ily Hana Song (5th in Medical Reading) and Alexandra Sanchez, Adriana Santiago Cuadrado, and Fardowsa Adan (4th place in Biomedical Debate).
- Congratulations to the two Preble High School FFA teams for qualifying in the sectional event on Friday, March 22, 2024. The Nursery Landscape team took second place and qualified for state. Maddy Gilson took honors as the second-high individual. Landon Morella was third-high individual. Yasmin Martinez Leon was 18th overall. The Vet Science team took first place. Preble had the highest placing individuals in vet math and identification. All of the Preble vet science team placed in the top fifteen individually. Faith VandeHei was second. Madi Schlag was seventh. Austyn Heim was eighth. Bella Heil was fourteenth. Mallory Vanveghel served as an alternate in this contest and will represent Preble at the state contest. Currently, both of the Preble teams are ranked in the top five at the state level.
- Congratulations to the Preble High School Forensics team. For the third straight year, the entire in-person performance team qualified for state. Team members include Nora Oleniczak, Merryn Hoppe, Michael Gonzalez Figueroa, Hana Song, Jonathan Wainwright, and Madaline Holewinski. The Forensics team is coached by Mike Schuh & Shayna Horacek.
- Congratulations to the Preble High School Academic Decathlon team that placed 3rd in D1 at the State Championships. This qualifies the team for the national competition in Pittsburg next month as a wild card team! Derek Arcand earned two 1st place medals and one 2nd place medal. Killian Arlt earned a 1st place State medal for the team. Adam Brunner earned two medals including the prestigious 5 for 5 in the Super Quiz. Adam is only the 5th student in Preble history to accomplish this feat.

- A rookie team of Northeast Wisconsin School of Innovation students received the Judges Award at the First Tech Challenge, a national program in which students design, build, and code robots to compete against other teams in a robotics challenge. Congratulations to Sheldon Brummette Jr., Daryl Cornelius Jr., Joseph Denil, Marte'nello Hurst, Cooper Fagre, and Serenity Maguire, who were all part of the team.

- Congratulations to Southwest High School senior Amelia Gibbons who was awarded a $750.00 scholarship thanks to the Cellcom 2023 Scholarship program! She is one of 16 seniors from across Cellcom's service area in Wisconsin to receive the scholarship. Scholarship winners were chosen based on community involvement, academic record, potential to succeed, leadership and participation in school activities, honors, work experience and an essay on community impact.

- The West High School students who completed the Tiny Earth program in December got an opportunity to visit the Wisconsin Institute for Discovery in Madison on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. They were able to meet Dr. Jo Handelsman, founder of Tiny Earth, and were able to interact with the scientists who work in her lab. While in Madison, these students were invited to come back in June to present at the summer Tiny Earth symposium. West students who participated in Tiny Earth and visited the Institute included: Desahni Thao, Jessenia Cruz, Brenna Ruonavarra, Chloe Burton, Nikki Xiong, Ana Garcia Calva, Fatuma Umberwa, and Olivia Vang.

The team has traveled the country for tournaments given their level of play. Andrew has been recruited to play in Spain in November 2024.

- Congratulations to West High School athlete Beau LeRoy for breaking West's school record in the Wheelchair 100 Meter Dash. Beau's time of 36.90 took 1st place at a Track Meet and beat out the former record of 45.95, set by Mitchell Kaquatosh in 2017.

- Congratulations to West High School Junior Donovan Beauchamp for breaking the West Track and field record for the 800M Run. Donovan's time was 1:58:29, breaking the previous record of 1:58:5 set in 1981.
- Congratulations to West High School Isaiah Becker who was named the winner of West High School's first annual Charity Chess Tournament. The Chess Tournament raised almost $100 for charity.
- The West High School Climbing Club had two climbers compete in the Odyssey's Bouldering competition of over 170 climbers. Climber John Moravetz did so well in Division 2 that he got bumped up to Division 3 and Jackson Hunt placed 8th in Division 2.
