Tutor Resources

Hiring will begin in August for the 2024-25 school year.

AVID Tutor/Facilitator Job Description: AVID facilitators work with small groups of students as part of the AVID Elective Class using the Socratic method to help students gain a deeper understanding of their school work. You do not need to be a subject area expert and paid training is provided.

This is part-time, limited term work beginning in October and running through May with hours available during the regular school day (7:30 a.m. - 3 p.m.) Monday-Thursday at multiple schools.  The starting wage is currently $15 an hour, with annual increases for returning tutors. Most tutors work between 4-10 hours per week but tutors willing to work at multiple buildings can get more hours.  Interviews will be conducted on an on-going basis.

AVID tutoring is a great opportunity to gain experience in education, make a difference in the lives of students and make a little extra cash. If you have questions please feel free to email Paulette Zastrow, AVID District Director.

All potential tutors are required to create a profile and apply through WECAN- the Wisconsin Education Career Access Network. Find the full job description and application under the Support staff listings.

To apply visit WECAN.

Please make sure the district director has your most up-to-date contact information. Email Paulette Zastrow if your information has changed or if you have questions. You should also notify HR of any changes to ensure your pay and tax documents are sent to the correct location.

Remember to regularly check your email throughout the semester.

If you are going to be absent for a shift please notify the teachers directly, and cc Paulette Zastrow. All teacher contact info is included in the Tutorial Support Resource Guide that was emailed at the beginning of the semester.

Tutors should arrive at the classroom five minutes prior to the scheduled start time so they can greet students, collect trf's and be prepared for the session as soon as the class is ready to begin.
