Nursing Assistant Program

Nursing Program student in class

Are you considering a career in healthcare? The Nursing Assistant (NA) program is a foundational course in learning how to work

with patients. Program graduates are eligible for employment in a variety of settings, including an acute care hospital, long-term care/rehab facility, or a home health agency. As a member of a healthcare team, the nursing assistant provides personal and daily care to clients who need assistance. All of these are high-demand jobs in our region.

The District offers the Nursing Assistant Program at East, Preble, Southwest and West high schools.

Please contact Associate Director of Teaching & Learning Eric Conn with questions.

About The Program:

The classroom phase includes specific nursing skills, safety in the healthcare setting and communicating with the patient, family and co-workers.

For certification, students are required to complete additional hours outside of the school day in a clinical experience and pass a state competency exam. Clinical experience typically begins approximately two months after the Nursing Assistance course begins.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the healthcare industry is poised to grow tremendously. Students who earn their NA license can expect job stability, the opportunity to work in various healthcare sectors, schedule flexibility, medical benefits and more.
