Portrait of a Graduate

Green Bay Area Public School District infographic titled "Portrait of a Graduate," detailing five graduate profiles: Achievers, Connectors, Architects, Teammates, and Navigators.

The Portrait of a Graduate is a visual representation of the collective vision of the skills, traits, and characteristics each student should obtain prior to graduation based on community feedback. The following are the five key categories that make up the graduate profile.

A Portrait of a Graduate

Kiana Nguyen (Preble Class of 2025) demonstrated her mastery of the graduate profile: academic achiever, communicator and connector, personal architect, leader and teammate and empowered navigator. Kiana began her education journey at Red Smith School (4K-8) and competed in gymnastics. At Preble High School, Kiana played varsity tennis all four years, worked in the Career Center, and was a member of Link Crew.

Kiana will be attending the University of Milwaukee, majoring in Communication Sciences and Disorders with a minor in Spanish. Kiana identified her career goal of working as a school bilingual speech and language pathologist early in her high school journey, which was supported with the District’s Education pathway providing courses in child development and education principles. Kiana also had opportunities to job shadow speech and language pathologists who work in the District, which really solidified her career choice.

Through the District’s Youth Apprenticeship program, Kiana was able to work at the YMCA teaching gymnastics classes and working with students with disabilities. These experiences confirmed with Kiana that she really enjoyed working with children.

Kiana’s family has also inspired her career goals. Living in a bilingual household, Kiana wants the opportunity to work in a multilingual environment. Kiana’s mom is a teacher and inspired her to consider a career in education. From helping in her mom’s classroom, to her own positive educational experience, Kiana has enjoyed school and looks forward to continuing to be a part of a school community after college.
