Provide Your Feedback through an Online Community Forum for the Superintendent Search

Wednesday, November 20, 7 p.m. - 9 p.m.

With the announcement of Superintendent Langenfeld's retirement from the District in June 2020, the Green Bay Area Public Schools Board of Education has contracted with Hazard, Young, Attea, and Associates (HYA) to assist in recruiting the next Superintendent of Schools and Learning. 

To ensure they find candidates that fit the District’s needs and can hit the ground running, HYA wants to hear your thoughts regarding the strengths of our District, the challenges we face, and the professional and personal attributes you would like to see in the next superintendent. 

In addition to the survey and in-person forums, HYA is offering an interactive online community forum using the Zoom platform. HYA’s President, Max McGee, will be hosting this event from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 20. Dr. McGee and the HYA team look forward to hearing your thoughts and the Board of Education welcomes and appreciates your input.

How to Participate

We want to learn your thoughts about the current state of our school district as well as what you think are the most important qualifications and characteristics for our next leader. Your feedback matters to us and we will use what you have to say to create a Leadership Profile and the framework of a job description for the new superintendent.

Please click on the link below to complete a 7-10 minute survey, answering each question honestly. Your answers are kept completely confidential. Our consultant, Hazard, Young, & Attea (HYA), will compile and analyze the feedback and provide the Board of Education with a detailed report based on the findings. Please take the survey as soon as possible. The survey will close on Monday, November 11th.

Community members are invited to attend a focus group session, where they will be asked to share their thoughts about our schools and district as well as the professional and personal characteristics they would like our district’s next superintendent to have.

October - November - Advertise superintendent position
November 11 - Online survey closes
October - December 15 - Applications and recruiting
November/December - Leadership profile presented to Board
November - December - HYA screening interviews/vetting of candidates
January - Presentation of slate of candidates, interviews
February - Final candidate interviews
February - Superintendent hiring approved and announced 
July 1 - New superintendent starts at GBAPS



How to Apply

 

The Green Bay Area Public School District is accepting applications to lead and serve our richly diverse district. Our 20,700 students are housed in 42 schools and served by more than 3,000 staff members. Several schools have won an array of awards and all are recognized for their nurturing environment that honors all cultural approaches and empowers individuals to achieve their full potential.  

Candidates should embody the District’s core values of excellence, engagement, equity, integrity, and responsibility and be prepared to demonstrate how they will achieve our mission of educating “all students to be college, career, and community ready, inspired to succeed in our diverse world.”

Applicants need to submit a resume with the full name, title, and contact information of three references; a cover letter; and a written narrative describing specifically what they have done in a recent leadership position to successfully address equity issues in a school system.
