Laura and her husband have lived within the city of Green Bay for the last 11 years and have two children in the GBAPS district. She holds a bachelor's degree in social welfare from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a master's degree from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh in educational leadership, and an Educational Specialist Certificate from a cooperative program between UW-Oshkosh and UW-Madison. She also holds a Professional in Human Resources (PHR) certification and is now finishing her doctorate in leadership studies through the School of Education at Marian University.

A graduate of Leadership Green Bay, prior to this position, Laura's volunteer activities included being a "Big Sister" with Big Brothers Big Sisters, serving as president of the Oneida Nation Arts Board, being a member of Oneida's Relay for Life planning committee, and serving on the Board of Directors for the Multicultural Center of Greater Green Bay. Her involvement with the Green Bay Area Public School district includes the Title VI American Indian Education Parent Committee, the Superintendent's Parent Advisory Committee and the Parent Teacher Organization at her children's school.
