Franklin Middle School is proud to offer an Anti-Racist Folx group for students. This initiative started as an adult group in 2020, and expanded to students in the fall of 2021. Each week, students and advisors meet for one lunch period to participate in the group. 

The Anti-Racist Folx group aims to bring the Franklin school community together in the following ways:
-Teach others about what it means to be anti-racist and how racism affects people. 
-Be open-minded and look at others’ points of view. 
-Bring more people into discussions to understand the views of others and hear their stories and experiences. 
-Encourage more people to stand up against racism. 

For every month that has a national heritage celebration, the group highlights and showcases historical events and prominent people of that culture by creating lessons, which includes presentations, games, and encouraging discussions in the “IB a Leader” class. Franklin Middle is an International Baccalaureate (IB) School. 

The lessons are facilitated by Franklin adult advisors but researched, created, and developed by the students. The lessons are very powerful coming from the student perspective and including content that interests them.
