Aldo Leopold Community School Cuts Ribbon on ADA Compliant & Inclusive Playground
The Green Bay Area Public School District and Aldo Leopold Community School celebrated the third ADA compliant and inclusive playground in the District with a ribbon cutting on August 21.
Aldo Leopold's playground joins Baird Elementary and Jackson Elementary Schools as ADA compliant and inclusive sites. All three of these projects were thanks to the November 2022 Referendum.
"Thanks to our community’s unwavering support for all students by passing the November 2022 referendum, today we are able to stand here and celebrate the District’s third completed ADA compliant and inclusive playground," Interim Superintendent Vicki Bayer said in front of a crowd of students, families and staff.
With support from the Board of Education and the community, students worked with District staff and Lee Recreation to design the playground.
"For two years our students worked together to come up with ideas and then they went into a deep, deep, deep editing program and gave a lot of feedback," Principal Trina Lambert said. "And then they were allowed to sit around the table when the final decisions were made."
Dr. Margaret Hutchinson, founding principal of Aldo Leopold Community School was in attendance (see photos below).
Thanks to our community for its support of the November 2022 Referendum, Aldo Leopold students and the greater Green Bay community will be able to enjoy the playground for years to come. Stay up to date on other November 2022 Referendum projects here.
