Bay Link Manufacturing® Celebrates 10 Years
The Bay Link Manufacturing® program at West High School celebrated its 10 year anniversary with a visit from Governor Tony Evers, state and city officials, and community partners on May 12, 2025.
Bay Link Manufacturing® instructor Andrew Belongia shared the history of the program and the impact it’s had on students, as well as some large scale projects with Gov. Evers and those in attendance.
Three students, two from West High School and one from Preble High School, told Gov. Evers about their future career goals after completing the program.
Bay Link Manufacturing® is a high-precision manufacturing learning lab equipped to complete projects for local companies in the areas of industrial welding, machine fabrication, and metals.
Students from East, Preble, Southwest and West High Schools are able to learn about the business of manufacturing through sales, marketing, accounting, production planning, bidding and purchase orders, and customer service. The program immerses students in relevant, real-word experience in high tech careers in manufacturing, engineering, marketing and business.
Students who complete the Bay Link Manufacturing® program are prepared to attend a 2- or 4-year college to pursue on-going education in the field of manufacturing and engineering or may be prepared to enter the world of work in an entry-level position.
Recognizing that our future depends on creating a highly skilled workforce to sustain our vibrant community, the Green Bay Area Public School District in partnership with Northeast Wisconsin Technical College (NWTC) and the NEW Manufacturing Alliance developed Bay Link Manufacturing® in 2014.
Over the last 10 years, Bay Link Manufacturing has welcomed more than $200,000 in donations from community partners, and earned nearly $100,000 through the work of the students.
