CP visits Lombardi Engineering Class

CP Visits Lombardi Engineering Class

Representatives and clients from CP visited Lombardi Middle School’s Advanced Pathway to Engineering class on September 23, 2025.

Students in the class are designing and building prototypes of ankle foot orthosis (AFOs) for tweens (age 9-12) with spastic hemiplegia. AFOs are commonly used to provide support, stability, or correction for a variety of conditions.

The CP staff members and clients showed students real life examples of AFOs, and the clients shared details about their AFOs, their shoes, and how they are fitted.

Students had the opportunity to share their sketches with CP staff members and clients and get feedback on their proposed prototypes.

Going forward, students will use cardboard, foam, wire, dowels, and other materials to create the AFO prototypes.
