Fort Howard Students Visit Animal Rescue
First grade students at Fort Howard Elementary School gave back to their community on Monday, February 10, 2025, while getting something special in return - puppy snuggles!
Fort Howard teacher Lara Henke and her class had their monthly visit to Lucky 7 Dog Rescue, where they read to the puppies, completed writing activities, and performed a community service project.
This month the students' community service project was helping put together gift bags for Lucky 7's next fundraiser.
Henke said the monthly visit is important for two reasons.
"The first is to provide students an opportunity to learn outside the classroom and apply the things we learn in other learning environments," Henke said. "The second is to immerse students in the community so they feel connected and see themselves as the future world changers they are."
