N.E.W. Opens New Space

Students, families and community members were welcomed to and open house for the new Northeast Wisconsin School of Innovation location on the Northeast Wisconsin Technical College campus on August 12, 2026.

Thanks to the support of the greater Green Bay community through the passage of the 2024 Referendum, and with the support of NWTC, the new facility creates a permanent home for the next phase of the N.E.W. School of Innovation.

N.E.W. School of Innovation now has a dedicated space within the NWTC Campus while providing appropriate instructional spaces for students in grades 6-12. The new space also incorporates the safety and security measures found throughout Green Bay Area Public Schools, creating a learning environment designed to support students now and into the future.

"The Green Bay Area Public School District is excited about this next chapter for N.E.W. School of Innovation," GBAPS Superintendent of Schools and Learning Michael Hernandez said. "The newly renovated space at NWTC incorporates both the safety and instructional infrastructure that is vital to providing a quality educational experience for our students. In addition, our strengthened partnership with NWTC provides students with a unique learning experience that improves graduation rates and college readiness."

Serving students in grades 6-12, the N.E.W. School of Innovation is a public charter school operated by GBAPS that first opened in 2018. The school utilizes personalized learning plans to deliver instruction and interventions to meet students’ needs academically, socially and emotionally.

N.E.W. also partners with NWTC to ensure strong vocational education by incorporating career pathways in coursework and student experiences. Students spend time each week on NWTC’s campus enrolled in career and technical education (CTE) courses. N.E.W. also offers dual credit through NWTC for upper class students.
