West High Debuts Renovated Stadium at Homecoming 2024
West High School debuted its newly renovated Del Marcelle Stadium at the Homecoming football game on September 20, 2024.
The stadium was full of Wildcat pride with more than 1,300 people in attendance.
The West High Booster Club brought in $5,000 in sales thanks to concessions, merchandise and the 50/50 raffle.
The Yearbook Club also saw a financial boost - 101 WIXX crew attended and gave a $500 donation to the club.
While some work is still underway, the turf, new entrance, concession stand, grandstand, press box and new video board were operational for West High’s first true home game of the year. West High athletes have been playing home games at other Green Bay Area Public Schools while the stadium was under construction.
The track, practice field and second section of the grandstand are set to be completed yet this fall or early winter. The West High greenhouse will also return.
West High School broke ground on the stadium renovations on April 29, 2024 as a part of the 2022 Referendum.
"Every kid, every student athlete deserves a right to be able to compete, to able to be part of something special," Principal Dexter McNabb said at the ground breaking. "This is something special."
West athletes also stepped into the new weight room earlier in September. This was another project thanks to the November 2022 Referendum. See the students' reactions and a quick tour of the space here.
