West High School Reality Fair

West High School hosted its first Reality Fair on April 9, 2026, in collaboration with Capital Credit Union. 

A Reality Fair is a simulation of an adult’s financial life that allows students to practice making financial decisions and managing money. Students experienced what it’s like to manage a financial account, make money-related choices, obtain a loan, manage debt, and more.

Students stopped by booths to buy a home, pay for child care, purchase a car, get insurance, pay utility bills, grocery shop and more. At each stop, volunteers presented choices based on the students’ designated wages, family size, etc.

Students were heard saying things like, “wow! Childcare really costs that much?” and, “what do you mean I owe $400 to the insurance company?”

The event featured 60 volunteers including people from Capital Credit Union, community members, and Green Bay Area Public Schools staff.  About 150 juniors participated in the Reality Fair.
