New Safety Protocols Effective September 22

Examples of appropriate clear backpacks with trim in various colors. The backpack on the left is full with school supplies.

The Green Bay Area Public School District has implemented several additional safety enhancements following an incident at Preble High School. A Safety Roundtable was also held on September 15, 2025. Summarized questions and answers, as well as a form for individuals to provide additional safety suggestions/recommendations are available on the Safety Roundtable Q&A webpage. The Board of Education will be reviewing and discussing the recommendations at the October 13th Work Session.

Clear and Colorless Backpacks

All 6th - 12th grade students may only bring a clear and colorless backpack to school. Students may have a small privacy bag in their backpack for hygiene products and valuables (earpods, money, phone, etc.).

Please check out the Clear Backpack FAQ webpage for additional information.

Enhanced Safety Measures at High Schools

The District has clarified and added safety protocols to address high school students that engage in unsafe behaviors (fighting, bringing a weapon, etc.). These enhanced protocols demand additional accountability of students who engage in unsafe acts, honor our mission of educating all students, require students to earn lost privileges, and ensure active participation by parents/guardians.
