The Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) is utilized as part of a comprehensive profile that is constructed to determine eligibility for gifted and talented programming. The CogAT provides a snapshot of student abilities in the areas of verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal functioning. The nonverbal battery tests a student’s reasoning abilities and does not require the student to use information gained from other experiences to solve problems. All students in the second grade beginning in the 2017-2018 school year will be screened using the shortened screening version of the CogAT. Scores will be shared with parents via Infinite Campus once reports are compiled.
