Grades 3 - 5 Math Service


Services Provided in the Classroom Setting 
 Service Grade Level(s) Description
Teacher Consultation K-12 Classroom teachers solicit additional supports from Gifted and Talented Resource Teachers (GTRT).

Push-in Service K-12 Gifted and Talented Resource Teachers meet with students during subject-specific areas of giftedness. The GTRT may provide additional instruction to challenge the gifted learner. 

Progress Monitoring K-12 Gifted and Talented Resource Teachers communicate monthly with classroom teachers to monitor the progress of individual students.  

Enrollment in Pathways 6-12 Secondary schools offer a wide variety of choice pathways, many of which may address areas of interest and aptitude for gifted students. These include Fine Arts, International Baccalaureate, STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art & Math), Dual Language, and Project-based learning. The GTRT will work with students, their families, and school counselors to access interested options. 

Services Provided Outside of the Classroom Setting

Talent Development Program 2-3 Inquiry-based high-interest learning experience.


Grades 3-6 Math Program 3-6 Students work with the Gifted and Talented Resource Teacher to apply their learning in the classroom to real-world situations and extend their thinking by collaborating with other learners across the district.  

Pull-Out Service 3-5 The Gifted and Talented Resource Teachers provide additional instruction to deepen or accelerate the gifted learner’s specific needs in the areas of math and literacy.   

Technology-Integrated Support/Online Programs 6-8 Gifted and Talented Resource Teachers provide extension and enrichment opportunities via blended and distance learning. 




Subject acceleration and/or Curriculum Compacting  6-8 As part of a personal learning plan, a student’s schedule may be adjusted to allow for access to accelerated or advanced courses that compact grade level curriculum and accelerate more rapidly to the next course level.  


Academic and Career Planning  9-12 In consultation with the Pupil Services Department, Gifted and Talented Resource Teachers provide support for understanding course selections and their relevance to post-secondary planning. 

Post-Secondary Preparation  9-12 In consultation with the Pupil Services Department, Gifted and Talented Resource Teachers provide support with the college preparation process. 


Dual Enrollment  9-12 Gifted and Talented Resource Teachers, in consultation with students and school counselors, provide support for accessing college credit-bearing and college equivalency courses (including Advanced Placement, International Baccalaureate, and Project Lead the Way) offered within the high school setting.  

Start College Now/Early College Credit Program 9-12 Gifted and Talented Resource Teachers, in consultation with students and school counselors, provide support for accessing college courses that fit a student’s academic and career plan but are not available within district schools. 


Work-Based Learning 9-12 Gifted and Talented Resource Teachers, in consultation with students and school counselors, provide support for accessing work-based learning programs including Youth Apprenticeship and Co-op. 

Extended Learning  9-12 Students may choose to enroll in summer school options in order to accelerate or enhance their academic experience and graduation plan. 

Services Typically Provided Outside of the Classroom Setting and Student's Grade Level Instruction

Subject Acceleration  K-12 A student participates in a subject-area class in a grade higher than they are currently enrolled.  


Grade Level Acceleration K-12 A student participates in a grade level higher than they are currently enrolled.  


Individual Intervention  K-5 A student would work individually with a Gifted and Talented Resource Teacher on coursework that is highly rigorous and targeted to their specific needs.   


Technology-Integrated Support/Online Programs  6-12  Gifted and Talented Resource Teachers provide extension and enrichment opportunities via blended and distance learning.  




Early Graduation  9-12 In addition to services listed above, students may inquire about school board-approved procedures for applying for early graduation. 

Independent Study  9-12 Students may work with Gifted and Talented Resource Teachers to pursue independent study learning opportunities for either enrichment or credit earning.
